Clay flower artist and painter Lorie Taylor grew up in Southern California. Her husband grew up on Maui, and she fell in love with the beauty, people, and spirit of aloha. So after 30 years in law enforcement, she retired to the Big Island.

Her Tutu Ann taught her that the best gift is hand-crafted with love. Art was also a way for Lorie to center herself.

She discovered the unique medium of clay flowers in 2018 and was entranced. She soon studied with masters of the craft in Honolulu.

“I have a brown, not a green thumb. This art allows me to fill my house with the vibrant colors and beauty that flower arrangements bring.”

Lorie also mixes acrylic painting and collage. It all helps share her love of the islands and the Hawaiian people through her art.
