Plein air painter Stan Chraminski spent most of his life creating art. The Arts High School in Newark, New Jersey led to art history at Rutgers and ongoing study.
Five years in Europe let him absorb favorites like Monet and Pissarro.
Stan is drawn to paint the open spaces around him, especially lakes, rivers, and beaches. His 2015 move to Hawai‘i added oceans and new colors to his plein air landscapes. “I love the challenge of it! An artist must carefully select just a single slice of this ever-changing reality, then combine the elements of composition, color, line, and texture to create the desired emotional impact. Each stroke is a separate decision of color, size, shape, direction, thickness, and texture, and it is the sum of these strokes which creates the work. It is this process which continually drives me to pick up my brushes.”
